All Horizon Academic Press journals are fully open access. Every article is freely available to read, download and share immediately upon publication — no subscription, paywall or registration.
Licensing and copyright
Articles are published under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY 4.0) licence unless otherwise stated: others may share and adapt the work, including for commercial purposes, with appropriate credit to the authors and the original publication. Authors retain copyright in their work and grant Horizon Academic Press a licence to publish. The applicable licence is displayed clearly on every article.
Self-archiving and reuse
Because authors retain copyright and articles are openly licensed, authors may deposit and share every version of their article — the submitted manuscript (preprint), the accepted manuscript, and the published version of record — in institutional or subject repositories, on scholarly networks, and on personal or departmental pages, immediately on publication and with no embargo. We encourage deposit in a repository that assigns a persistent identifier, with a link to the version of record.
Publication charges
Our journals do not currently levy an article processing charge (APC); there is no charge to submit, process or publish, and no submission fee. Should any journal introduce a fee in future, it will be announced transparently and in advance, will never influence editorial decisions, and will include a waiver policy so that ability to pay is never a barrier to publication.
Identifiers, metadata and preservation
Each article receives a persistent identifier (DOI) and is described with standards-based metadata registered with the relevant infrastructure, so it is citable and discoverable. The version of record is published as a typeset PDF and machine-readable JATS XML, and is preserved for the long term so the scholarly record remains accessible even if the journal ceases to publish.
