Horizon Academic Press supports transparency and reproducibility in research. Authors are encouraged — and, where a journal requires it, expected — to make the data, code and materials underlying their findings available, so that others can verify and build upon their work.
Data availability statements
Every research article should include a data availability statement indicating whether the data supporting the results are openly available, available on reasonable request, or subject to restrictions (for example ethical or legal constraints), and how they may be accessed. Where data cannot be shared, the reasons should be stated.
Repositories and citation
We encourage authors to deposit datasets in a recognised, trustworthy repository that issues a persistent identifier (such as a DOI), and to cite the dataset in the reference list. Discipline-specific and general-purpose repositories are both acceptable.
Ethical and legal considerations
Data sharing must respect participant privacy, informed consent and applicable law. Human-participant data should be appropriately anonymised, or shared under controlled access, where required.
Code and materials
Where computational methods are central to a study, authors are encouraged to share analysis code and key materials so that results can be independently reproduced.
